"I love drawing and painting outdoors; the feeling of being fully immersed in a scene and dealing with the elements. I learn more as I go along with the challenge of changing light and shadows and sky and cloud patterns to deal with. Another terrific reason to work on site is the people who come along and the stories they tell. Quite often these stories find their way into the final narrative of my drawing or painting…" |
Brant Friesen is a traditional “Off the Easel” artist who lives in Coquitlam, British Columbia. Brant’s distinctly styled oil paintings and graphite drawings tell the everyday stories of people who spend their working lives on the water and the stories of those who are drawn to the water for the pure pleasure of the experience. All of Brant’s paintings and drawings start from a “Plein Air” drawing or painting.
"Wetlands and Waterscapes" features the works of Brant Friesen and Pauline Doyle. Feature exhibit at Silk Art Gallery from March 20 - April 27. |
