About the Gallery
Silk Art Gallery is the latest addition to Port Moody’s exciting art scene. Opened in September 2016, and quickly gaining popularity as part of Port Moody’s burgeoning gallery row, Silk Gallery prides itself on showcasing stunning works by local artists. Ranging from oil and acrylic paintings to stained glass, metal and wood artistry, Silk offers beautiful local creations for your home, office and more.
Silk remains a treasured art medium to this day. From silk screen prints and fabric art to limited edition giclée prints and original paintings on silk, this medium continues to incite new uses as a luxurious and durable material. Our art gallery is inspired by the fine and rich quality of silk, from its beauty to its versatility, in the celebration of our local talent.
Located in the heart of Port Moody’s Heritage District, the P. Burns & Co. Butcher Store at 2419 Clarke St is a valued heritage building for its association with the early commercial activity of the city, and for its ties to a prominent retailing chain. Built around 1908 by western Canadian entrepreneur Patrick Burns, the building is a rare surviving example of a “Boomtown” or false-front commercial building. Today, the building survives in virtually original condition and has been completely and authentically restored. It is now home to Silk Art Gallery and CityState Consulting Services, Inc.
