The Presence Within the Absence

O day, rise!
The particles are dancing.
Connected from one origin, whirling
All souls are dancing freely in ecstasy.

I'll whisper in your ear.
Where their dance is leading them.
- Rumi

The terms presence and absence describe fundamental states of one’s being. I believe that the presence of a person may be perceived later on in their absence.

The intent of completing this array of work is to capture moments of Presence following one’s Absence; possibly abducting the energy, aura, sound, movement, and even aroma of the moment, which in turn are just flashes of time, short-lived, and disappearing forever.

In this series of pieces, I try to emphasize human posture and movement; demonstrated as figurative abstract language in conjunction with monochromatic colours and thin layers of acrylic paint overlapping each other.  Motions in time are compressed, prolonged, or seemingly in stasis - the tension between being present and absent.
