Iman Hashemi

The Fragile Concinnity of our Organs

Throughout the course of history, the human body has been the subject of curiosity for many artists. This series of work presented by Iman Hashemi attempts to help us reconsider the way we view our bodies.

In these works, Hashemi explores the fact that regardless of scientific advancements, our limited knowledge of the human body and the enigmatic nature of its organs persists. Furthermore, the artist in these paintings gets closer to more realistic shapes that are juxtaposed with symbolic forms and colours similar to anatomical models.

The structure of these paintings is abstract in nature. Shapes are distorted and simplified, hard edges are incorporated, and synthetic colours are also used.

The artist keeps the shapes both flat and simple to represent the material aspect of the human body. He then uses intertwining forms to show the complex nature of bodily organs that remain perplexing to the mind.
